Cambria County Emergency Services: Apparatus Standards (Definitions)

In accordance with FEMA Typed Resource Definitions, NFPA, FAA: ARFF, PA DOH, and surrounding PSAPS

***ALL VEHICLES SHOULD MEET THE NFPA REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR TYPE AS OF THE DATE OF PRODUCTION BOTH IN SAFETY AND EQUIPMENT CARRIED LISTS***

 

Engine – designated E

– minimum of 1,000GPM pump, 500 gallon water tank

– must maintain all current NFPA 1901 equipment standards of an Engine Company, at a minimum

 

Rescue Engine – designated RE

-minimum of 1,000 GPM pump

-must maintain all current NFPA 1901 equipment standards of an Engine Company, at a minimum, in addition to:

-Capability for a full tool setup (a gas or electric power unit, a spreading device, a cutting device, and 2 rams) at minimum

-airbag assortment – minimum of 3 greater than or equal to 50 tons of lifting

-come along with 1.5 ton capacity

-tool kit with standard and metric sockets

-2 salvage covers

– one set of standard towing chains

-50 pounds of absorbent

– 2 struts or farm jacks at minimum (4-Ton)

-Cribbing sufficient to at least two 3ft box stacks (4”x 4” x 18”and/or 2”x 4”x 18”)

-1000watts of portable lighting

-One corded or cordless reciprocating saw with spare blades

-Chain type saw – minimum of (1)

-Disk type saw with assorted blades – minimum of (1)

– PPV Fan – minimum of (1)

 

Attack – designated AT

– must maintain all current NFPA 1901 equipment standards of a Quick Attack including:

– minimum of 250 GPM pump with 200 gallon tank

 

Brush – designated B

-4 wheel drive

pump capacity of less than 500 GPM, but greater than or equal to 20 GPM (high pressure)

-pump/ tank may be a combination skid unit

-Minimum of 200 gallon water tank

-Chain saw

-Pre-connected handline – minimum of (1) any size, minimum of 150 ft

-Indian tanks or backpack tanks – minimum of (2)

-Any combination of shovels, rakes or brush hooks – minimum of (4)

 

Tanker – designated TN

– must maintain all current NFPA 1901 equipment standards of Mobile Water Supply Apparatus at a minimum

-Carries 1500 gallons of water or more

-Drop tank that exceeds amount carried

Truck (with Engine capabilities) – designated T in CAD

– must maintain all current NFPA 1901 equipment standards of a Truck Company or Quint Company at a minimum

Is an aerial device with no bucket, and can either be mid mounted or rear mounted.

Ladder (with no Engine capabilities) – designated L in CAD

– must maintain all current NFPA 1901 equipment standards of a Truck Company minimum

Is an aerial device with no bucket, and can either be mid mounted or rear mounted.

-no pump, water tank

 

Tower (with Engine capabilities) – designated TW in CAD

– must maintain all current NFPA 1901 equipment standards of a Truck Company or Quint Company at a minimum Aerial Device must have a bucket, and can either be a mid-mounted, rear-mounted, or an articulating boom aerial.

 

Tower Ladder (with no Engine capabilities) – designated TL in CAD

– must maintain all current NFPA 1901 equipment standards of a Truck Company at a minimum

– Aerial Device must have a bucket, and can either be a mid-mounted, rear-mounted, or an articulating boom aerial.

-no pump, water tank

 

Rescue – designated R

– must maintain current NFPA 1901 equipment standards of a Special Service Company, in addition to the following at a minimum:

-Capability for a full tool setup (a gas or electric power unit, a spreading device, a cutting device, and 2 rams) at minimum

-Cribbing sufficient to at least two 3ft box stacks (4”x 4” x 18”and/or 2”x 4”x 18”)

-airbag assortment – minimum of 3 greater than or equal to 54 tons of lifting

– 2 struts or farm jacks at minimum (4-Ton)

-Rescue rope – minimum of 500 ft.

– Service rope – minimum of 300 ft.

– Rappelling harness – minimum of (2).

-Rappelling equipment – carabineers, webbing, etc.

-Stokes basket – minimum of (1).

– Forcible Entry Equipment (ex. Set of Irons (halligan bar and flat head ax), K-tool with keys, rabbit tool or similar device)

-Chain type saw – minimum of (1)

-Disk type saw with assorted blades – minimum of (1)

– PPV Fan – minimum of (1)

-come along with 1.5 ton capacity

-1 air chisel kit

-1 impact wrench kit

-1 corded or cordless reciprocating saw with spare blades

-1 corded or cordless drill

-tool kit with assorted tools and standard/metric sockets

-first aid jump bag

-2 salvage covers

– plug and dike (kit)

-one set standard towing chains

-50 pounds absorbent

-1000 watts of portable lighting

– Ladder(s) with total footage of 10 ft. – minimum of (1)

– Rope throw bags – minimum of (2)

-Personal flotation devices – minimum of (2)

– 3-gas meter

 

Squad – designated S in CAD

Utility – designated U in CAD

-does not meet the Rescue or Special Service category

-May just solely be used for personnel transportation and/or specialty trailer hauling

 

Special Service – designated SS in CAD

–          Does not meet the Rescue category

–          May solely just carry specialty rescue equipment (Water Rescue, Cascade, RIT, etc)

 

Mobile Command – designated MC    Example – “Mobile Command 11-1”, MC111 in CAD

-on site Field Communication’s unit with the ability to provide the items below in an enclosed environment:

-mobile internet and phone capabilities

-Computer Aided Dispatch

-Radio system that is capable of communicating over and monitoring multiple channels, bands, and cross-banding/repeating at once.

-Video Surveillance

 

Car – designated C

-is a Chief, duty chief, duty officer, department vehicle with, at minimum, basic Incident Command capabilities including:

– Radio system with the ability to communicate over and monitor multiple channels (UHF) at once

-Coverage area pre-plans, map book/s

-Accountability Management Equipment

 

All-Terrain Vehicle – designated ATV

–          Vehicles may be equipped with specialty equipment

o   Skid Unit

o   Rescue Equipment

o   Wildland Fire Fighting Equipment

 

Boat – designated BOAT

–          May be equipped with specialty equipment

o   Portable pump

o   Water Rescue Equipment

 

Foam Application Unit – designated F

–          Vehicle or trailer specifically designed for bulk foam transportation and application

 

Crash Fire Rescue – designated CFR

–          Airport stationed, crash suppression apparatus that meets FAA: ARFF requirements

 

Haz-Mat – designated HM

County designated Haz-Mat (SHARP) Response Apparatus
